Janece Stone, Owner
Janece has always enjoyed anything creative and learned so much about interior design over the years while working in the construction industry with her husband, James. The inspiration for Sugarwood just seemed to grow out of a love for all things home interiors. Opening Sugarwood Interiors was a way to combine her educational background in art with her passion for creating beautiful home spaces. Building the site and structures became a family affair with their construction company, Stone Development & Restoration, as the development company. Janece based the look and feel on what speaks to her style. Sugarwood reflects a relaxed yet refined atmosphere. The offerings are beautiful with a casual feel and most importantly approachable. This experience has been the dream of a lifetime for Janece and everything that she has hoped it would be.
Meg Doyle, Sales Associate
Meg is a seasoned professional with over 20 years of experience in the flooring and furniture industry. Originally from New York, she brought her passion for design and business to her local community, where she’s been helping homeowners create spaces they love to come home to. With a background in catering, Meg knows a thing or two about making a home feel inviting and comfortable. She has a special talent for area rugs, turning them into statement pieces that tie a room together. Now a proud new grandma, Meg loves spending time with her daughter and grandchild, both of whom live in town. Always eager to meet new people, Meg finds joy in sharing her expertise and making meaningful connections. When she's not helping others design their dream spaces, you’ll find her in the kitchen, whipping up delicious meals for family and friends. Whether it's a new rug or a home-cooked meal, Meg’s mission is to make every home feel like a welcoming retreat.
Annika Ling, Sales Associate
Annika is a student in the Interior Design program at Appalachian State University. During her time in Wilmington she loves working at Sugarwood and helping customers make home furnishing selections for their space. Additionally she works behind the scenes on the social media and website upkeep! Apart from work she spends her time at the beach or making art!
Jessica Beckerich, Designer
Born and raised in Washington State, Jessica Beckerich discovered her passion for design early on, leading her to pursue formal education at a prestigious design school in Chicago, IL. After honing her skills in the classroom, she launched her career in the dynamic world of multi-family renovation and design, spending a decade managing projects across Texas, Florida, and Georgia. Seeking a more personalized approach to design, Jessica transitioned into residential interiors upon moving to Wilmington, NC. There, she expanded her expertise by not only decorating homes but also building multiple properties alongside her husband. Her hands-on experience in construction and design naturally led her to work directly with a custom home builder, where she guided homeowners through the entire process—from pre-construction space planning to selecting the perfect materials and finishes. With a deep understanding of both the creative and structural aspects of home design, Jessica continues to bring timeless, functional, and beautifully curated spaces to life for her clients.
Erin England, Designer
With over a decade of experience in interior design and renovation management, Erin England merges European elegance with Southern charm in her Wilmington, NC projects. Drawing inspiration from her studies in Canada and time spent abroad, Erin creates luxurious homes that balance refinement and comfort. Known for her meticulous attention to detail, she expertly curates finishes, textiles, and furnishings to craft collected, timeless spaces. Erin’s passion extends to historical design, as seen in her restoration of an 1800s colonial home with her family. When not immersed in her work, Erin expresses her creativity through photography and writing and enjoys beach days with her husband and two daughters.
Jaisa Conroy, Designer
Jaisa discovered her passion for interior design at a young age, growing up in Greensboro, NC, where she was inspired by HGTV and dreamed of becoming a designer like those she admired on the channel. After earning her degree from Cape Fear Community College, she joined Sugarwood Interiors, where she continues to be inspired by the diverse learning experiences in her career. Jaisa is refining her distinctive style, which blends coastal and traditional elements. She takes great pride in helping clients transform their spaces into environments they truly love.
Christina Vurnakes, Operations Manager
Christina always knew growing up in Durham, NC, that her future would involve either teaching or something related to creative styling, as the precious little details have always caught Christina’s eye. After earning her degree in Elementary Education from UNCW and teaching for six years in her hometown, she felt drawn to a new creative path that allowed her to focus on her passion for detail, organization, and collaboration with the community—all while returning to Wilmington. That’s when the blessing of Sugarwood presented itself. Now, she’s dedicated to guiding clients through every step of their journey, ensuring they get exactly what they envision and more. And from time to time, she gets to indulge her love of styling by helping customers select the perfect touches to make their homes truly beautiful.
