Choose your canvas. Establish your space, layout, and tableware before anything else. From buffets and sideboards to formal dining tables and kitchen islands, first identifying where your guests will gather will help set the stage for your tablescape. Once you figure this out, this will make everything else easier.

Choose your theme and color palate. Yes, neutrals are always a hit but a little color goes a long way. Don’t be afraid to use some color outside the traditional orange and green. Be bold and colorful!

Get Creative! Miniature pumpkins, fall foliage, candles, greenery and herbs, gold flatware, etc. Have fun and be creative with your decor, after all, it should reflect your style and family!

Texturize and Layer! Place leaves under plates or napkins for added texture. Give depth to each guest’s setting with added décor atop plates and place settings.  DO go outside and find some fall foliage to add to your table. It’s free and really adds a colorful and natural element to the table. What better way than creating a beautiful tablescape with what you have outside!

Recreate and Repurpose! Use those leftover pumpkins from Halloween…unless they are carved, you don’t want to spook your relatives. You will be surprised at what you already have lying around!

Plan ahead! Write out menus, decorate your table days ahead so you can focus on the meal and spend quality time with your family day of. This should be fun, not stressful!
